For one night only, MAY 25th, Theater Oobleck presents Mickle Maher’s “The Hunchback Variations” starring Diana Slickman and Colm O’Reilly in the WISCONSIN COUNTRYSIDE! At beautiful Tiny Tempest Farm, W4355 Mohawk Road, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, 53147.
And by great good fortune, as the sun sets and the stars emerge from their distant, invisible nowhere, Lisa Kaplan and Matthew Duvall of Eighth Blackbird will perform music for piano and percussion as prelude to the play.
And there’s more! Please stay post-show for the music of DADBAND and a bring-the-spring campfire. BYOB and BYO dandelion wine!
Playing out over 11 scenes, or “variations,” The Hunchback Variations takes the form of a panel discussion between Quasimodo, hunchback of Notre Dame, and Ludwig van Beethoven, composer, concerning their attempt to create a mysterious sound effect called for in Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. Run time for the entire evening is approximately 80 minutes. Show: 5/25, 8:00PM. Barn doors open at 7:30PM.
Selected press:

“A moving meditation on collaboration and the creative process” – Chicago Reader
“a thinking man’s vaudeville. You won’t soon forget it” – Houston Press
“Cerebral, comic, and just plain weird” – St. Louis Post-Dispatch
